Matthew 26

17
Now on the first day of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Yeshua, saying to him, “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”

Mark 14

12
And the first day of unleavened bread, when they killed the passover, his disciples said unto him, Where wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the passover?

Luke 22

7
And the day of the unleavened bread came, on which it was necessary that the pasch should be killed.

18 He said, “Go into the city to a certain person, and tell him, ‘The Rabbi says, “My time is at hand. I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.”‘“

13 And he sendeth forth two of his disciples, and saith unto them, Go ye into the city, and there shall meet you a man bearing a pitcher of water: follow him. 14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? 15 And he will shew you a large upper room furnished and prepared: there make ready for us.

8 And he sent Peter and John, saying: Go, and prepare for us the pasch, that we may eat. 9 But they said: Where wilt thou that we prepare? 10 And he said to them: Behold, as you go into the city, there shall meet you a man carrying a pitcher of water: follow him into the house where he entereth in. 11 And you shall say to the goodman of the house: The master saith to thee: Where is the guest chamber, where I may eat the pasch with my disciples? 12 And he will shew you a large dining room, furnished. And there prepare.

19 The disciples did as Yeshua commanded them, and they prepared the Passover.

16 And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the passover.

13 And they going, found as he had said to them and made ready the pasch.

20 Now when evening had come, he was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples.

17 And in the evening he cometh with the twelve.

14 And when the hour was come, he sat down: and the twelve apostles with him.

John 13

1
It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father.

15 And he said to them: With desire I have desired to eat this pasch with you, before I suffer. 16 For I say to you that from this time I will not eat it, till it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.

17 And having taken the chalice, he gave thanks and said: Take and divide it among you. 18 For I say to you that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, till the kingdom of God come.

Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love. 2 The evening meal was being served, and the devil had already prompted Judas Iscariot, son of Simon, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. 6 He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?” 7 Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” 8 “No,” said Peter, “you shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with me.” 9 “Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!” 10 Jesus answered, “A person who has had a bath needs only to wash his feet; his whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you.” 11 For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean. 12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 I tell you the truth, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

19 And taking bread, he gave thanks and brake and gave to them, saying: This is my body, which is given for you. Do this for a commemoration of me.

18 “I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the scripture: ‘He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel against me.’ 19 “I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am He.

20 In like manner, the chalice also, after he had supped, saying: This is the chalice, the new testament in my blood, which shall be shed for you.

20 I tell you the truth, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.”

21 As they were eating, he said, “Most certainly I tell you that one of you will betray me.”

18 And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me.

21 After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, “I tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me.”

22 They were exceedingly sorrowful, and each began to ask him, “It isn’t me, is it, Lord?”

19 And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?

22 His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant.

23 He answered, “He who dipped his hand with me in the dish, the same will betray me. 24 The Son of Man goes, even as it is written of him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for that man if he had not been born.”

20 And he answered and said unto them, It is one of the twelve, that dippeth with me in the dish. 21 The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.

21 But yet behold: the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. 22 And the Son of man indeed goeth, according to that which is determined: but yet, woe to that man by whom he shall be betrayed.

23 And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

25 Judah, who betrayed him, answered, “It isn’t me, is it, Rabbi?” He said to him, “You said it.”

26 As they were eating, Yeshua took bread, gave thanks for it, and broke it. He gave to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”

22 And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

23 One of them, the disciple whom Jesus loved, was reclining next to him. 24 Simon Peter motioned to this disciple and said, “Ask him which one he means.” 25 Leaning back against Jesus, he asked him, “Lord, who is it?” 26 Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon. 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. 28 “What you are about to do, do quickly,” Jesus told him, but no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. 29 Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was needed for the Feast, or to give something to the poor. 30 As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night.

24 And there was also a strife amongst them, which of them should seem to be the greater. 25 And he said to them: The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and they that have power over them are called beneficent. 26 But you not so: but he that is the greater among you, let him become as the younger: and he that is the leader, as he that serveth. 27 For which is greater, he that sitteth at table or he that serveth? Is not he that sitteth at table? But I am in the midst of you, as he that serveth.

31 When he was gone, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified and God is glorified in him. 32 If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once. 33 “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. 34 “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

28 And you are they who have continued with me in my temptations: 29 And I dispose to you, as my Father hath disposed to me, a kingdom;

27 He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave to them, saying, “All of you drink it, 28 for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins. 29 But I tell you that I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on, until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s Kingdom.”

23 And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it. 24 And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many. 25 Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.

30 That you may eat and drink at my table, in my kingdom: and may sit upon thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

30 When they had sung the Hallel, they went out to the Mount of Olives. 31 Then Yeshua said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

26 And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives. 27 And Jesus saith unto them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.

36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?”

31 And the Lord said: Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and thou, being once converted, confirm thy brethren.

Jesus replied, “Where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.”

32 But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee.”

28 But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.

33 But Peter answered him, “Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble.”

29 But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.

33 Who said to him: Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison and to death.

37 Peter asked, “Lord, why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.”

34 Yeshua said to him, “Most certainly I tell you that tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.

34 And he said: I say to thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, till thou thrice deniest that thou knowest me.

38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? I tell you the truth, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!

35 Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you.” All of the disciples also said likewise.

31 But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all.

And he said to them:

John 14

1
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.” 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work. 11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. 12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. 15 “If you love me, you will obey what I command. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever -17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me. He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and show myself to him.” 22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, “But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?” 23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. 24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. 25 “All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. 28 “You heard me say, ‘I am going away and I am coming back to you.’ If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29 I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe. 30 I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me, 31 but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

35 When I sent you without purse and scrip and shoes, did you want anything? 36 But they said: Nothing. Then said he unto them: But now he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise a scrip: and he that hath not, let him sell his coat and buy a sword. 37 For I say to you that this that is written must yet be fulfilled in me. And with the wicked was he reckoned. For the things concerning me have an end. 38 But they said: Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said to them: It is enough.

“Come now; let us leave.

39 And going out, he went, according to his custom, to the Mount of Olives. And his disciples also followed him.

John 15

1
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. 9 “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit--fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 17 This is my command: Love each other. 18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’26 “When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.

John 16

1
“All this I have told you so that you will not go astray. 2 They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to God. 3 They will do such things because they have not known the Father or me. 4 I have told you this, so that when the time comes you will remember that I warned you. I did not tell you this at first because I was with you. 5 “Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, ‘Where are you going?’ 6 Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief. 7 But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; 10 in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; 11 and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. 12 “I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14 He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. 15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. 16 “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.” 17 Some of his disciples said to one another, “What does he mean by saying, ‘In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me,’ and ‘Because I am going to the Father’?” 18 They kept asking, “What does he mean by ‘a little while’? We don’t understand what he is saying.” 19 Jesus saw that they wanted to ask him about this, so he said to them, “Are you asking one another what I meant when I said, ‘In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me’? 20 I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy. 21 A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world. 22 So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy. 23 In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. 24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. 25 “Though I have been speaking figuratively, a time is coming when I will no longer use this kind of language but will tell you plainly about my Father. 26 In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. 27 No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God. 28 I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.” 29 Then Jesus’ disciples said, “Now you are speaking clearly and without figures of speech. 30 Now we can see that you know all things and that you do not even need to have anyone ask you questions. This makes us believe that you came from God.” 31 “You believe at last!” Jesus answered. 32 “But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me. 33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

John 17

1
After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: 2 “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began. 6 “I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. 13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified. 20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”

36 Then Yeshua came with them to a place called Gethsemane,

32 And they came to a place which was named Gethsemane:

40 And when he was come to the place,

John 18

1 When he had finished praying, Jesus left with his disciples and crossed the Kidron Valley. On the other side there was an olive grove, and he and his disciples went into it.

and said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go there and pray.”

and he saith to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray.

he said to them: Pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

37 He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch with me.”

33 And he taketh with him Peter and James and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; 34 And saith unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch.

39 He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire.”

35 And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him. 36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

41 And he was withdrawn away from them a stone’s cast. And kneeling down, he prayed. 42 Saying: Father, if thou wilt, remove this chalice from me: but yet not my will, but thine be done.

43 And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony, he prayed the longer. 44 And his sweat became as drops of blood, trickling down upon the ground.

40 He came to the disciples, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What, couldn’t you watch with me for one hour? 41 Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour? 38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

45 And when he rose up from prayer and was come to the disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow. 46 And he said to them: Why sleep you? Arise: pray: lest you enter into temptation.

42 Again, a second time he went away, and prayed, saying, “My Father, if this cup can’t pass away from me unless I drink it, your desire be done.”

39 And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.

43 He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.

40 And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.

44 He left them again, went away, and prayed a third time, saying the same words.

45 Then he came to his disciples, and said to them, “Sleep on now, and take your rest.

41 And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest:

47 As he was yet speaking, behold a multitude;

Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

2 Now Judas, who betrayed him, knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with his disciples.

46 Arise, let’s be going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand.”

42 Rise up, let us go; lo, he that betrayeth me is at hand.

47 While he was still speaking, behold, Judah, one of the Twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priest and elders of the people.

43 And immediately, while he yet spake, cometh Judas, one of the twelve, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.

and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve,

3 So Judas came to the grove, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons.

48 Now he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, “Whoever I kiss, he is the one. Seize him.”

44 And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.

4 Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?” 5 “Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. 6 “I am he,” Jesus said.

49 Immediately he came to Yeshua, and said, “Hail, Rabbi!” and kissed him.

45 And as soon as he was come, he goeth straightway to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.

went before them and drew near to Jesus, for to kiss him.

(And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.)

50 Yeshua said to him, “Friend, why are you here?”

48 And Jesus said to him: Judas, dost thou betray the Son of man with a kiss?

When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground. 7 Again he asked them, “Who is it you want?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.” 8 “I told you that I am he,” Jesus answered. “If you are looking for me, then let these men go.” 9 This happened so that the words he had spoken would be fulfilled: “I have not lost one of those you gave me.”

49 And they that were about him, seeing what would follow, said to him: Lord, shall we strike with the sword?

Then they came and laid hands on Yeshua, and took him.

46 And they laid their hands on him, and took him.

51 Behold, one of those who were with Yeshua stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear.

47 And one of them that stood by drew a sword, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear.

50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.

10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.)

52 Then Yeshua said to him, “Put your sword back into its place, for all those who take the sword will die by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels? 54 How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?”

51 But Jesus answering, said: Suffer ye thus far. And when he had touched his ear, he healed him.

11 Jesus commanded Peter, “Put your sword away! Shall I not drink the cup the Father has given me?”

55 In that hour Yeshua said to the multitudes, “Have you come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to seize me? I sat daily in the temple teaching, and you didn’t arrest me. 56 But all this has happened, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.”

48 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Are ye come out, as against a thief, with swords and with staves to take me? 49 I was daily with you in the temple teaching, and ye took me not: but the scriptures must be fulfilled.

52 And Jesus said to the chief priests and magistrates of the temple and the ancients, that were come unto him: Are ye come out, as it were against a thief, with swords and clubs? 53 When I was daily with you in the temple, you did not stretch forth your hands against me: but this is your hour and the power of darkness.

Then all the disciples left him, and fled.

50 And they all forsook him, and fled. 51 And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: 52 And he left the linen cloth, and fled from them naked.

57 Those who had taken Yeshua led him away to Caiaphas the high priest,

53 And they led Jesus away to the high priest:

54 And apprehending him, they led him to the high priest’s house.

12 Then the detachment of soldiers with its commander and the Jewish officials arrested Jesus. They bound him 13 and brought him first to Annas, who was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, the high priest that year.

14 Caiaphas was the one who had advised the Jews that it would be good if one man died for the people.

where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.

and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes.

58 But Peter followed him from a distance, to the court of the high priest,

54 And Peter followed him afar off, even into the palace of the high priest:

But Peter followed afar off.

15 Simon Peter and another disciple were following Jesus.

Because this disciple was known to the high priest, he went with Jesus into the high priest’s courtyard, 16 but Peter had to wait outside at the door. The other disciple, who was known to the high priest, came back, spoke to the girl on duty there and brought Peter in.

and entered in and sat with the officers, to see the end.

and he sat with the servants, and warmed himself at the fire.

55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall and were sitting about it, Peter was in the midst of them.

56 Whom when a certain servant maid had seen sitting at the light and had earnestly beheld him, she said: This man also was with him. 57 But he denied him, saying: Woman, I know him not.

17 “You are not one of his disciples, are you?” the girl at the door asked Peter. He replied, “I am not.”

18 It was cold, and the servants and officials stood around a fire they had made to keep warm. Peter also was standing with them, warming himself.

19 Meanwhile, the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching. 20 “I have spoken openly to the world,” Jesus replied. “I always taught in synagogues or at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret. 21 Why question me? Ask those who heard me. Surely they know what I said.” 22 When Jesus said this, one of the officials nearby struck him in the face. “Is this the way you answer the high priest?” he demanded. 23 “If I said something wrong,” Jesus replied, “testify as to what is wrong. But if I spoke the truth, why did you strike me?” 24 Then Annas sent him, still bound, to Caiaphas the high priest.

59 Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole council sought false testimony against Yeshua, that they might put him to death; 60 and they found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none.

55 And the chief priests and all the council sought for witness against Jesus to put him to death; and found none. 56 For many bare false witness against him, but their witness agreed not together.

But at last two false witnesses came forward, 61 and said, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.’” 62 The high priest stood up, and said to him, “Have you no answer? What is this that these testify against you?” 63 But Yeshua held his peace.

57 And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, 58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. 59 But neither so did their witness agree together. 60 And the high priest stood up in the midst, and asked Jesus, saying, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? 61 But he held his peace, and answered nothing.

The high priest answered him, “I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Messiah, the Son of God.” 64 Yeshua said to him, “You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of the sky.” 65 Then the high priest tore his clothing, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Behold, now you have heard his blasphemy. 66 What do you think?” They answered, “He is worthy of death!”

Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? 62 And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven. 63 Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses? 64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death.

67 Then they spit in his face and beat him with their fists, and some slapped him, 68 saying, “Prophesy to us, you Messiah! Who hit you?”

65 And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.

69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the court, and a maid came to him, saying, “You were also with Yeshua, the Galilean!” 70 But he denied it before them all, saying, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

66 And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest: 67 And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth. 68 But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.

71 When he had gone out onto the porch, someone else saw him, and said to those who were there, “This man also was with Yeshua of Nazareth.”

69 And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.

58 And after a little while, another seeing him, said: Thou also art one of them.

25 As Simon Peter stood warming himself, he was asked, “You are not one of his disciples, are you?”

72 Again he denied it with an oath, “I don’t know the man.”

70 And he denied it again.

But Peter said: O man, I am not.

He denied it, saying, “I am not.”

73 After a little while those who stood by came and said to Peter, “Surely you are also one of them, for your speech makes you known.” 74 Then he began to curse and to swear, “I don’t know the man!”

And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto. 71 But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.

59And after the space, as it were of one hour, another certain man affirmed, saying: Of a truth, this man was also with him: for he is also a Galilean. 60 And Peter said: Man, I know not what thou sayest.

26 One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, challenged him, “Didn’t I see you with him in the olive grove?” 27 Again Peter denied it,

Immediately the rooster crowed.

72 And the second time the cock crew.

And immediately, as he was yet speaking, the cock crew.

and at that moment a rooster began to crow.

61 And the Lord turning looked on Peter.

75 Peter remembered the word which Yeshua had said to him, “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him, Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.

And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, as he had said: Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny thrice.

He went out and wept bitterly.

And when he thought thereon, he wept.

62 And Peter going out, wept bitterly.

63 And the men that held him mocked him and struck him. 64 And they blindfolded him and smote his face. And they asked him saying: Prophesy: Who is it that struck thee? 65 And blaspheming, many other things they said against him.

Matthew 27

1
Now when morning had come, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Yeshua to put him to death:

Mark 15

1
And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council,

66 And as soon as it was day, the ancients of the people and the chief priests and scribes came together. And they brought him into their council saying: If thou be the Christ, tell us. 67 And he saith to them: If I shall tell you, you will not believe me. 68 And if I shall also ask you, you will not answer me, nor let me go. 69 But hereafter the Son of man shall be sitting on the right hand of the power of God. 70 Then said they all: Art thou then the Son of God? Who said: You say that I am. 71 And they said: What need we any further testimony? For we ourselves have heard it from his own mouth.

2 and they bound him, and led him away, and delivered him up to Pontius Pilate, the governor.

and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

Luke 23

1
And the whole multitude of them, rising up, led him to Pilate.

28 Then the Jews led Jesus from Caiaphas to the palace of the Roman governor.

3 Then Judah, who betrayed him, when he saw that Yeshua was condemned, felt remorse, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 saying, “I have sinned in that I betrayed innocent blood.” But they said, “What is that to us? You see to it.” 5 He threw down the pieces of silver in the sanctuary, and departed. He went away and hanged himself. 6 The chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said, “It’s not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is the price of blood.” 7 They took counsel, and bought the potter’s field with them, to bury strangers in. 8 Therefore that field was called “The Field of Blood” to this day. 9 Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled, saying, “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him upon whom a price had been set, whom some of the children of Israel priced, 10 and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.”

By now it was early morning, and to avoid ceremonial uncleanness the Jews did not enter the palace; they wanted to be able to eat the Passover.

29 So Pilate came out to them and asked, “What charges are you bringing against this man?”

30 “If he were not a criminal,” they replied, “we would not have handed him over to you.”

2 And they began to accuse him, saying: We have found this man perverting our nation and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar and saying that he is Christ the king.

31 Pilate said, “Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law.” 32 “But we have no right to execute anyone,” the Jews objected. This happened so that the words Jesus had spoken indicating the kind of death he was going to die would be fulfilled.

11 Now Yeshua stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, “Are you the King of the Jews?”

2 And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

3 And Pilate asked him, saying: Art thou the king of the Jews?

33 Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”

Yeshua said to him, “So you say.”

And he answering said unto them, Thou sayest it.

But he answering, said: Thou sayest it.

34 “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?”

35 “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “It was your people and your chief priests who handed you over to me. What is it you have done?” 36 Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.” 37 “You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” 38 “What is truth?” Pilate asked.

4 And Pilate said to the chief priests and to the multitudes: I find no cause in this man.

With this he went out again to the Jews and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him.

12 When he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing. 13 Then Pilate said to him, “Don’t you hear how many things they testify against you?” 14 He gave him no answer, not even one word, so that the governor marveled greatly.

3 And the chief priests accused him of many things: but he answered nothing.4 And Pilate asked him again, saying, Answerest thou nothing? behold how many things they witness against thee.5 But Jesus yet answered nothing; so that Pilate marvelled.

5 But they were more earnest, saying: He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place. 6 But Pilate hearing Galilee, asked if the man were of Galilee? 7 And when he understood that he was of Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him away to Herod, who was also himself at Jerusalem in those days.

8 And Herod seeing Jesus, was very glad: for he was desirous of a long time to see him, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to see some sign wrought by him. 9 And he questioned him in many words. But he answered him nothing. 10 And the chief priests and the scribes stood by, earnestly accusing him. 11 And Herod with his army set him at nought and mocked him, putting on him a white garment: and sent him back to Pilate. 12 And Herod and Pilate were made friends, that same day: for before they were enemies one to another.

13 And Pilate, calling together the chief priests and the magistrates and the people, 14 Said to them: You have presented unto me this man as one that perverteth the people. And behold I, having examined him before you, find no cause in this man, in those things wherein you accuse him. 15 No, nor Herod neither. For, I sent you to him: and behold, nothing worthy of death is done to him. 16 I will chastise him therefore and release him.

15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release to the multitude one prisoner, whom they desired.

6 Now at that feast he released unto them one prisoner, whomsoever they desired.

17 Now of necessity he was to release unto them one upon the feast day.

16 They had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.

7 And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection.8 And the multitude crying aloud began to desire him to do as he had ever done unto them.

17 When therefore they were gathered together, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release to you? Barabbas, or Yeshua, who is called Messiah?”

9 But Pilate answered them, saying, Will ye that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

39 But it is your custom for me to release to you one prisoner at the time of the Passover. Do you want me to release ‘the king of the Jews’?”

18 For he knew that because of envy they had delivered him up.

10 For he knew that the chief priests had delivered him for envy.

19 While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.”

20 Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes to ask for Barabbas, and destroy Yeshua. 21 But the governor answered them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?”

11 But the chief priests moved the people, that he should rather release Barabbas unto them.

They said, “Barabbas!”

18 But the whole multitude together cried out, saying: Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas: 19 Who, for a certain sedition made in the city and for a murder, was cast into prison.

40 They shouted back, “No, not him! Give us Barabbas!” Now Barabbas had taken part in a rebellion.

John 19

1
Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged. 2 The soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on his head. They clothed him in a purple robe 3 and went up to him again and again, saying, “Hail, king of the Jews!” And they struck him in the face.

22 Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do to Yeshua, who is called Messiah?”

12 And Pilate answered and said again unto them, What will ye then that I shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

20 And Pilate again spoke to them, desiring to release Jesus.

4 Once more Pilate came out and said to the Jews, “Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.”

5 When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, “Here is the man!”

They all said to him, “Let him be crucified!”

13 And they cried out again, Crucify him.

21 But they cried again, saying: Crucify him, Crucify him.

6 As soon as the chief priests and their officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify! Crucify!”

But Pilate answered, “You take him and crucify him. As for me, I find no basis for a charge against him.”

7 The Jews insisted, “We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God.”

8 When Pilate heard this, he was even more afraid, 9 and he went back inside the palace. “Where do you come from?” he asked Jesus, but Jesus gave him no answer. 10 “Do you refuse to speak to me?” Pilate said. “Don’t you realize I have power either to free you or to crucify you?”

11 Jesus answered, “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”

12 From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free, but the Jews kept shouting, “If you let this man go, you are no friend of Caesar. Anyone who claims to be a king opposes Caesar.”

13 When Pilate heard this, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judge’s seat at a place known as the Stone Pavement (which in Aramaic is Gabbatha). 14 It was the day of Preparation of Passover Week, about the sixth hour.

23 But the governor said, “Why? What evil has he done?”

14 Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done?

22 And he said to them the third time: Why, what evil hath this man done? I find no cause of death in him. I will chastise him therefore and let him go.

“Here is your king,” Pilate said to the Jews.

But they cried out exceedingly, saying, “Let him be crucified!”

And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.

23 But they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And their voices prevailed.

15 But they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”

“Shall I crucify your king?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” the chief priests answered.

24 So when Pilate saw that nothing was being gained, but rather that a disturbance was starting, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this righteous person. You see to it.” 25 All the people answered, “May his blood be on us, and on our children!”

26 Then he released to them Barabbas, but Yeshua he flogged and delivered to be crucified.

15 And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified.

24 And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required. 25 And he released unto them him who for murder and sedition had been cast into prison, whom they had desired. But Jesus he delivered up to their will.

16 Finally Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified.

Then the governor’s soldiers took Yeshua into the Praetorium, and gathered the whole garrison together against him. 28 They stripped him, and put a scarlet robe on him. 29 They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him, and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” 30 They spat on him, and took the reed and struck him on the head.

16 And the soldiers led him away into the hall, called Praetorium; and they call together the whole band. 17 And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, 18 And began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! 19 And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him.

17 So the soldiers took charge of Jesus.

31 When they had mocked him, they took the robe off of him, and put his clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.

20 And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha).

32 As they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name, and they compelled him to go with them, that he might carry his cross.

21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.

26 And as they led him away, they laid hold of one Simon of Cyrene, coming from the country; and they laid the cross on him to carry after Jesus.

27 And there followed him a great multitude of people and of women, who bewailed and lamented him. 28 But Jesus turning to them, said: Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not over me; but weep for yourselves and for your children. 29 For behold, the days shall come, wherein they will say: Blessed are the barren and the wombs that have not borne and the paps that have not given suck. 30 Then shall they begin to say to the mountains: Fall upon us. And to the hills: Cover us. 31 For if in the green wood they do these things, what shall be done in the dry?

32 And there were also two other malefactors led with him to be put to death.

33 They came to a place called “Golgotha,” that is to say, “The place of a skull.”

22 And they bring him unto the place Golgotha, which is, being interpreted, The place of a skull.

33 And when they were come to the place which is called Calvary,

they crucified him there: and the robbers, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

18 Here they crucified him, and with him two others--one on each side and Jesus in the middle.

34 And Jesus said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.

But they, dividing his garments, cast lots.

35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers with them derided him, saying: He saved others: let him save himself, if he be Christ, the elect of God.

34 They gave him sour wine to drink mixed with gall. When he had tasted it, he would not drink.

23 And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.

36 And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him and offering him vinegar,

37 And saying: If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

35 When they had crucified him, they divided his clothing among them, casting lots,

24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take.

36 and they sat and watched him there.

25 And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.

37 They set up over his head the accusation against him written,

26 And the superscription of his accusation was written over,

38 And there was also a superscription written over him in letters of Greek and Latin and Hebrew

19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read:

“THIS IS YESHUA, THE KING OF THE JEWS.”

THE KING OF THE JEWS.

THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. 21 The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.” 22 Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”

38 Then there were two robbers crucified with him, one on his right hand and one on the left.

27 And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the other on his left. 28 And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

23 When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom. 24 “Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.” This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled which said, “They divided my garments among them and cast lots for my clothing.” So this is what the soldiers did.

39 Those who passed by blasphemed him, wagging their heads, 40 and saying, “You who destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself! If you are the Son of God, come down from the cross!”

29 And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, 30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.

41 Likewise the chief priests also mocking, with the scribes, the Pharisees, and the elders, said, 42 “He saved others, but he can’t save himself. If he is the King of Israel, let him come down from the cross now, and we will believe in him. 43 He trusts in God. Let God deliver him now, if he wants him; for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’”

31 Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save. 32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe.

25 Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.

44 The robbers also who were crucified with him cast on him the same reproach.

And they that were crucified with him reviled him.

39 And one of those robbers who were hanged blasphemed him, saying: If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

40 But the other answering, rebuked him, saying: Neither dost thou fear God, seeing; thou art under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly: for we receive the due reward of our deeds. But this man hath done no evil. 42 And he said to Jesus: Lord, remember me when thou shalt come into thy kingdom.

43 And Jesus said to him: Amen I say to thee: This day thou shalt be with me in paradise.

26 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Dear woman, here is your son,” 27 and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour.

33 And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.

44 And it was almost the sixth hour: and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45 And the sun was darkened,

46 About the ninth hour Yeshua cried with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lima sabachthani?” That is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

47 Some of them who stood there, when they heard it, said, “This man is calling Elijah.”

35 And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he calleth Elias.

28 Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”

48 Immediately one of them ran, and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him a drink.

36 And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink,

29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus’ lips.

49 The rest said, “Let him be. Let’s see whether Elijah comes to save him.”

saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.

50 Yeshua cried again with a loud voice,

37 And Jesus cried with a loud voice,

and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. 46 And Jesus crying with a loud voice, said:

30 When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.”

Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit.

and yielded up his spirit.

and gave up the ghost.

And saying this, he gave up the ghost.

With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

51 Behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from the top to the bottom.

38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

The earth quaked and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the holy ones who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection, they entered into the holy city and appeared to many.

54 Now the centurion, and those who were with him watching Yeshua, when they saw the earthquake, and the things that were done, feared exceedingly, saying, “Truly this was the Son of God.”

39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.

47 Now, the centurion, seeing what was done, glorified God, saying: Indeed this was a just man.

48 And all the multitude of them that were come together to that sight and saw the things that were done returned, striking their breasts.

55 Many women were there watching from afar, who had followed Yeshua from Galilee, serving him. 56 Among them were Miriam Magdalene, Miriam the mother of Jacob and Yosi, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.

40 There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome; 41 (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;) and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.

49 And all his acquaintance and the women that had followed him from Galilee stood afar off, beholding these things.

31 Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath. Because the Jews did not want the bodies left on the crosses during the Sabbath, they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken down. 32 The soldiers therefore came and broke the legs of the first man who had been crucified with Jesus, and then those of the other. 33 But when they came to Jesus and found that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus’ side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water. 35 The man who saw it has given testimony, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, and he testifies so that you also may believe. 36 These things happened so that the scripture would be fulfilled: “Not one of his bones will be broken,” 37 and, as another scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”

When evening had come, a rich man from Arimathaea, named Joseph, who himself was also Yeshua’s disciple came. 58 This man went to Pilate, and asked for Yeshua’s body.

42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.

50 And behold there was a man named Joseph who was a counsellor, a good and a just man, 51 (The same had not consented to their counsel and doings) of Arimathea, a city of Judea: who also himself looked for the kingdom of God. 52 This man went to Pilate and begged the body of Jesus.

38 Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jews.

44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.

Then Pilate commanded the body to be given up.

45 And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

46 And he bought fine linen, and took him down,

53 And taking him down,

With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away.

39 He was accompanied by Nicodemus, the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.

59 Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

and wrapped him in the linen,

he wrapped him in fine linen

40 Taking Jesus’ body, the two of them wrapped it, with the spices, in strips of linen. This was in accordance with Jewish burial customs.

60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock,

and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock,

and laid him in a sepulchre that was hewed in stone, wherein never yet any man had been laid.

41 At the place where Jesus was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid.

54 And it was the day of the Parasceve: and the sabbath drew on.

42 Because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.

and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, and departed.

and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.

61 Miriam Magdalene was there, and the other Miriam, sitting opposite the tomb.

47 And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.

55 And the women that were come with him from Galilee, following after, saw the sepulchre and how his body was laid. 56 And returning, they prepared spices and ointments:

62 Now on the next day, which was the day after the Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees were gathered together to Pilate, 63 saying, “Sir, we remember what that deceiver said while he was still alive: ‘After three days I will rise again.’ 64 Command therefore that the tomb be made secure until the third day, lest perhaps his disciples come at night and steal him away, and tell the people, ‘He is risen from the dead;’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.” 65 Pilate said to them, “You have a guard. Go, make it as secure as you can.” 66 So they went with the guard and made the tomb secure, sealing the stone.

and on the sabbath day they rested, according to the commandment.

Now after the Sabbath,

Mark 16

1
And when the sabbath was past,

Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

as it began to dawn on the first day of the week, Miriam Magdalene and the other Miriam came to see the tomb.

2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.

Luke 24

1
And on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared.

John 20

1
Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark,

3 And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?

2 Behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from the sky, and came and rolled away the stone from the door, and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4 For fear of him, the guards shook, and became like dead men.

4 And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.

2 And they found the stone rolled back from the sepulchre.

Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the entrance.

3 And going in, they found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

2 So she came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!”

5 And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

4 And it came to pass, as they were astonished in their mind at this, behold, two men stood by them, in shining apparel. 5 And as they were afraid and bowed down their countenance towards the ground,

5 The angel answered the women, “Don’t be afraid, for I know that you seek Yeshua, who has been crucified. 6 He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where the Lord was lying.

6 And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

they said unto them: Why seek you the living with the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen.

Remember how he spoke unto you, when he was yet in Galilee, 7 Saying: The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and the third day rise again. 8 And they remembered his words.

7 Go quickly and tell his disciples, ‘He has risen from the dead, and behold, he goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him.’ Behold, I have told you.”

7 But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.

8 They departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring his disciples word.
9 As they went to tell his disciples,

8 And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.

9 And going back from the sepulchre, they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. 10 And it was Mary Magdalen and Joanna and Mary of James and the other women that were with them, who told these things to the apostles. 11 And these words seemed to them as idle tales: and they did not believe them.

12 But Peter rising up, ran to the sepulchre

3 So Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. 4 Both were running, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 He bent over and looked in at the strips of linen lying there but did not go in.

and, stooping down, he saw the linen cloths laid by themselves:

6 Then Simon Peter, who was behind him, arrived and went into the tomb. He saw the strips of linen lying there, 7 as well as the burial cloth that had been around Jesus’ head. The cloth was folded up by itself, separate from the linen.

8 Finally the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, also went inside. He saw and believed. 9 (They still did not understand from Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.)

and went away wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

10 Then the disciples went back to their homes,

11 but Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. 13 They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” 14 “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.”

At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.

behold, Yeshua met them, saying, “Rejoice!”

15 “Woman,” he said, “why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”

Thinking he was the gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.”

9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.”

She turned toward him and cried out in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” (which means Teacher).

They came and took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.

17 Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father.

10 Then Yeshua said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Go tell my brothers that they should go into Galilee, and there they will see me.”

Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept. 11 And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.

18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.

11 Now while they were going, behold, some of the guards came into the city, and told the chief priests all the things that had happened. 12 When they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave a large amount of silver to the soldiers, 13 saying, “Say that his disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. 14 If this comes to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him and make you free of worry.” 15 So they took the money and did as they were told. This saying was spread abroad among the Judeans, and continues until this day.

12 After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.

13 And behold, two of them went, the same day, to a town which was sixty furlongs from Jerusalem, named Emmaus. 14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened. 15 And it came to pass that while they talked and reasoned with themselves, Jesus himself also, drawing near, went with them. 16 But their eyes were held, that they should not know him. 17 And he said to them: What are these discourses that you hold one with another as you walk and are sad? 18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleophas, answering, said to him: Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things that have been done there in these days? 19 To whom he said: What things? And they said: Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet, mighty in work and word before God and all the people. 20 And how our chief priests and princes delivered him to be condemned to death and crucified him. 21 But we hoped that it was he that should have redeemed Israel. And now besides all this, to-day is the third day since these things were done. 22 Yea and certain women also of our company affrighted us who, before it was light, were at the sepulchre, 23 And not finding his body, came, saying that they had all seen a vision of angels, who say that he is alive. 24 And some of our people went to the sepulchre and found it so as the women had said: but him they found not.

25 Then he said to them: O foolish and slow of heart to believe in all things, Which the prophets have spoken. 26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things and so, to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded to them in all the scriptures the things that were concerning him.

28 And they drew nigh to the town whither they were going: and he made as though he would go farther. 29 But they constrained him, saying: Stay with us, because it is towards evening and the day is now far spent. And he went in with them. 30 And it came to pass, whilst he was at table with them, he took bread and blessed and brake and gave to them. 31 And their eyes were opened: and they knew him. And he vanished out of their sight. 32 And they said one to the other: Was not our heart burning within us, whilst he spoke in the way and opened to us the scriptures?

13 And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.

33 And rising up, the same hour, they went back to Jerusalem: and they found the eleven gathered together, and those that were with them, 34 Saying: The Lord is risen indeed and hath appeared to Simon. 35 And they told what things were done in the way: and how they knew him in the breaking of bread.

14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat,

36 Now, whilst they were speaking these things, Jesus stood in the midst of them and saith to them: Peace be to you. It is I: Fear not.

19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

37 But they being troubled and frightened, supposed that they saw a spirit. 38 And he said to them: Why are you troubled, and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 See my hands and feet, that it is I myself. Handle, and see: for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as you see me to have. 40 And when he had said this, he shewed them his hands and feet. 41 But while they yet believed not and wondered for joy, he said: Have you here any thing to eat? 42 And they offered him a piece of a broiled fish and a honeycomb. 43 And when he had eaten before them, taking the remains, he gave to them.

20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

44 And he said to them: These are the words which I spoke to you while I was yet with you, that all things must needs be fulfilled which are written in the law of Moses and in the prophets and in the psalms, concerning me.45 Then he opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures. 46 And he said to them: Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer and to rise again from the dead, the third day:

21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” 22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”

24 Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.”

26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” 28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

16 But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Yeshua had sent them. 17 When they saw him, they bowed down to him, but some doubted.

30 Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book.

18 Yeshua came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore go, and make disciples of all nations, immersing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you.

15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

47 And that penance and remission of sins should be preached in his name, unto all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

48 And you are witnesses of these things.

Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
